UNBORN, UNDYING
With its roots in Tibetan Buddhism, the Afterdeath is a comic series that explores the various imagined perspectives of those who "Once Lived", and those who are "Unborn, Undying". Set in the intermediatory state (Bardo) between death and rebirth, The Afterdeath connects every culture, every era, and every sentient being that has ever lived and died, or has yet to live and die, through its boundless setting. Envisioned as a long-running series, stretching several volumes, the Afterdeath aims to tell the story of humanity.
"For God, he fought,
For peace of mind, he questioned.
Blood spilled, he split,
Into a thousand angels,
In search of the God,
He beckoned."
The first volume centers around the diverging paths of Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism through the Silk Road. It begins with the death of a Crusader whose consciousness created a militaristic, monastic society of entities known as the Red Angels of God's Army. Their purpose is to return to God, bringing all those under Christ's Heavenly Banner along with them.
